Tours of the homes that are part of the Pullman House Project will bring you back in time and into the lives of Pullman workers and their families.

Welcome Center

Tours start at One Florence Boulevard, the grand executive home that serves as the Welcome Center for our program. You can view our exhibits and video presentation before your tour and grab a drink or a snack at Pullman Club Coffee.

Main Tour

On our Main Tour, guides will lead you on a short walk past some of the key points of Pullman, passing Arcade Park, the Hotel Florence, Greenstone Church and Market Hall, before stopping at our flagship home - the Dunbar House. This executive home is styled to the period of 1900, when Thomas Dunbar lived there with his family while he was the Superintendent of the Pullman Car Works, across the street.

Extended Tour

If you choose to add the Extended Tour option to the Main Tour, after you tour the Dunbar Home, your guide will lead you on a walk along the length of Pullman to our Honeymoon Row home. This unit is one of a larger 5-unit building, where we depict the 3-room, cold-water apartment of a the family of a worker as well as a working shoe repair shop that was built in the back.

The Extended Tour option runs immediately after the Main Tour.
$10 add-on (total $30)
Time: additional 45 minutes (2 hr 30 min total)

Looking to bring your group to Pullman for a private tour?

Tour groups will visit recreated Pullman dwellings where you will discover how migrant and immigrant families experienced daily life in the homes and community built by George M. Pullman in 1880. Trained tour guides will offer historical perspectives that connect the past and present.

  • Group reservations for 10-40 adults may be scheduled any day of the week for times between 10:00 am -3:00 pm.

  • Reservations must be made at least 14 days in advance of your desired tour date.

  • Confirmation will be contingent on schedule availability and receipt of advanced deposit.

  • Deposit of $100 will be required to hold a tour reservation, with final participant count and remaining payment in full due 7 days prior to the scheduled tour date. Failure to provide a final count and payment 7 days prior to the scheduled tour date may result in cancellation and forfeiture of the advance deposit.

  • Groups must arrive no later than 15 minutes before the contracted tour time.

  • Length of visit depends on the tour option selected and the size of the group. Generally tours will involve walking and will take anywhere from 1-2.5 hours.

  • Accessibility in our facilities varies - our Welcome Center is fully accessible, with an accessible entrance and washroom facility, while our homes are multi-level and guests will need to navigate stairs to view.

Includes our Welcome Center, interior of The Dunbar Home - a recreated executive house that was home to the Thomas Dunbar family a the turn of the 20th century, as well walking tour of various Pullman landmarks such as Arcade Park, Hotel Florence, Greenstone Church and Market Square.

Includes the Main Tour, plus an expanded walking tour covering a broader range of housing and the interior of a Honeymoon Row worker’s flat and a vintage shoe repair shop.
